In here we are plan to discuss some properties like Elasticity, Plasticity, Ductility, Toughness and Hardness of materials in briefly.
Elasticity of the Material
The property of engineering materials can lead deformation by applying and removal of the certain load. So the elasticity of the materials simply means the ability to deform any material under load and it returns to the original shape while the load is removed.The elasticity of material is determined by two different types of the parameters such as modulus and elastic limit
Modulus– Modulus is a measurement which the force per unit area which need to obtain deformations. The units of the modules are Pascal. When the rate of modulus is higher means that the material is hard to get deformed. When the modulus value low means that the material is more tend to get deformed.
Elastic Limit– The elastic limit of the materials means the limit which can the material which no longer behave the deformation of the material which takes the place.
In here while the stress of the material gets to release the elasticity of the material returns the permanently deformed shape apart of its original shape.
Plasticity of the Engineering Material:
The meaning of the plasticity of the material is the ability to go under the permanent deformation without get failure. The level of plasticity occurs after when the elastic limit of the material get exceed.Normally the plasticity of any engineering material will increase when the temperature is rise.
Ductility of Materials:
The meaning of the ductility of the engineering materials is the ability of the material go for the plastic deformation without get a fracture. When the material are get deform in the plastic manner , so the material get squeezed into the different shapes.
The ductility can measure in two basic method which are Percentage elongation and percentage reduction method.
When we find out the operation of rolling and extrusion the ductility plays a important role. The ductility is use to measure the level of impurity and proper procedure of the material.
Toughness of the Material
The toughness of the material is the ability to absorb the energy during the period of the plastic deformation level to fracture level.
Toughness is the combination of the ductility and the strength of the materials. This can calculate by using the stress strain curve. The area under the stress strain curve from a tensile test.
The hardness of the Material:
The hardness of the Materials is the ability to resist obtain a permanently deform when an external load is apply. when the hardness of the material is higher that material is got great resistance on deformation.
